During the British occupation, the English were amazed by the prosperity of the town.
The name “Little Golden Town” simply doesn’t come easy. After much
research they discovered that the dragon-shaped Taiso hill encircling the town
was the force behind the success. It seems that they believed in “Feng Sui”
as much as the Chinese do. Driven by hatred and jealousy, a plan was devised to
destroy this force. So, in the name of the development, the 'head of the
dragon' was demolished and a plantation estate was built right at the spot. To
further ensure their position remain unchallenged, a pillar measuring a hundred feet
was nailed into the 'backbone of the dragon'. This way, the vigour and vitality of the
dragon is believed to be suppressed. If this is not enough, a police station was
built at the abdomen of the dragon. According to ‘Feng Sui’ philosophy, a police station
can exert a very strong force with which to curtail the power of the dragon. |
