Despite the fact that the country is heading towards a more industrialized and IT based
economy, the economy of the town is however still very much dependent on
agriculture. The Malays are largely workers in oil palm field and rubber tapers in
the Felda schemes. Many are also employed in the government departments. The
Chinese are mainly engaged in retail, trade professionals and technical
services. The Indians on the other hand are found in rubber estates as rubber tapers. However,
some make it through education and became successful
